In General, an amateur driver is a driver who has not received valuable
compensation
for his or her services as a driver in the past 10 years.
To participate in Matinee club events,
a person must hold a Matinee category or higher driver's
license issued by the United States Trotting Association, be a current
member of NEAHDC,
and be in good standings at the locally affiliated racetrack. The NEAHDC
will decide all
questions regarding a person's status as a club driver.
To participate in Pari-Mutuel club
events, a person must hold a Provisional category or
higher driver's
license issued by the United States Trotting Association, be a current
member of NEAHDC,
and be in good standings at the locally affiliated racetrack. The NEAHDC
will decide all
questions regarding a person's status as a club driver.
Any driver participating in non-club events and driving
his or her own horse is
still eligible to be an amatuer. Any driver who is participating in
non-club events
may donate all of their driver money earned to the club (to be donated
to a charity)
and still continue to be classified as an amateur.
A Matinee Drvers License is the most easily obtainable
drivers license. To be eligible for a
Matinee license, an applicant must be at least 12 years old. The applicant
is required to
complete an application and submit the names of at least four currently
licensed "A" drivers
who can vouch for his/her ability. No test is required for a Matinee
license.
If you do not have a license, join NEAHDC and start
